1. Submission and Initial Screening
The authors or editors submit a detailed book proposal or complete the
manuscript.
The commissioning editor conducts an initial screening to assess the scope,
relevance, and basic quality.
Proposals or manuscripts deemed suitable are advanced to the peer review
stage.
2. Selection of Peer Reviewers
At least two independent reviewers with recognised expertise and a strong
publication record in the relevant field were selected for each manuscript.
Reviewers may be suggested by the author/editor, editorial board, or
commissioning editor, but the final selection is made using Impact Compass
Publishing to ensure objectivity and independence.
Reviewers must not have conflicts of interest with the author(s) (e.g. the same
institution, personal relationships, or prior collaboration).
3. Review Process
Double-Blind Review: Both reviewer and author identities were concealed to
ensure impartiality, unless otherwise justified and agreed upon.
Reviewers receive a clear brief outline of the assessment criteria, including
the following:
o Originality and significance of the work
o Scholarly rigor and methodological soundness
o Clarity, structure, and writing quality
o Contribution to the field and relevance to the intended audience
o Ethical considerations, where applicable
Reviewers were required to provide constructive, respectful, and detailed
feedback using a standardised template provided by the publisher.
If the reviewer reports are conflicting, a third independent review was
commissioned.
4. Anonymity and Confidentiality
Reviewer identities remain confidential and are only disclosed to the editorial
board or publication committee if necessary and with permission.
Review reports were shared anonymously with the author(s) for revision
purposes.
All review materials are confidential and may not be shared outside the review
process without explicit consent.
5. Author Revision and Response
The authors receive anonymised reviewer reports and are invited to submit a
detailed response, indicating how feedback has been addressed or where
suggestions have not been adopted, providing a rationale.
Manuscripts may undergo one or more rounds of revision and, if necessary,
further review.
6. Editorial Decision
The final publishing decision rests with Impact Compass Publishing, which is
based on reviewer recommendations, author responses, and editorial
judgment.
Approval may depend on further developmental editing or additional revisions.
7. Documentation and Transparency
Formal letters confirming the peer review process were provided to the
authors and, where required, to institutional research offices.
Endorsements from reviewer reports may only be used for marketing
purposes with explicit permission from the reviewer.
The peer-review process is documented and auditable to ensure
accountability.
8. Exceptions and Special Cases
In rare cases, a proposal-only review may be conducted; however, a full
manuscript review is the standard for all scholarly books.
Editorial board members or series editors do not serve as peer reviewers for
the manuscripts they commission or oversee.
9. Ethical Standards
All participants in the peer review process were expected to adhere to the
highest standards of academic ethics, including avoidance of plagiarism,
conflicts of interest, and breaches of confidentiality.
