Author Guidelines

The International Journal of Public and Allied Health Sciences (IJPHS) welcomes high-quality submissions in the fields of public health and allied health sciences. Manuscripts may be submitted as Original Articles, Literature Review Articles, or Meta-Analysis Articles. All submissions must adhere to the following guidelines.

General Submission Requirements

  • Manuscripts must be original, not previously published, and not under consideration elsewhere.

  • Submissions must be in Microsoft Word format.

  • Registration and login are required for online submission and to track manuscript status.

  • All references must be cited in the text and listed in the Reference section.

  • Figures and tables should be embedded within the text at appropriate points, with proper captions and titles.

  • Manuscripts must be thoroughly spell-checked and grammar-checked prior to submission.

  • Authors must comply with ethical standards, including disclosure of conflicts of interest and funding sources.

Article Types and Specific Guidelines

1. Original Articles

  • Content: Reports of original research including experimental studies, observational studies, intervention studies, and surveys.

  • Structure: IMRAD format (Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion).

  • Abstract: Structured, up to 250 words.

  • Word Limit: Up to 6,500 words (excluding references and abstract).

  • Tables/Figures: Place within the text at relevant points.

  • References: Numbered in order of appearance, formatted according to ICMJE guidelines.

2. Literature Review Articles

  • Content: In-depth, systematic, and critical assessments of existing literature and data sources on a specific topic.

  • Structure: Should include an introduction, methods for literature search and selection, thematic synthesis, discussion, and conclusion.

  • Word Limit: Up to 4,000 words (excluding references and abstract).

  • Tables/Figures: Use is encouraged to summarize findings and key messages.

  • References: Comprehensive and up-to-date, following ICMJE style.

3. Meta-Analysis Articles

  • Content: Quantitative analyses that statistically combine results from multiple studies to address a research question.

  • Structure: Should include background, objectives, methods (including search strategy, inclusion/exclusion criteria, and statistical methods), results, discussion, and conclusion.

  • Abstract: Structured, up to 250 words.

  • Word Limit: Up to 6500 words (excluding references and abstract).

  • Tables/Figures: Include forest plots, summary tables, and other relevant figures.

  • References: Detailed and formatted according to ICMJE guidelines.

Manuscript Preparation Checklist

  • The manuscript fits the scope of the journal and the correct article type is selected.

  • Author information is provided only in the online submission system, not in the manuscript file (for blinded review).

  • A 200-word “Contribution to the Field” statement is included, summarising the manuscript's significance in non-technical language.

  • All funding sources and conflicts of interest are disclosed.

  • All authors meet ICMJE authorship criteria and their contributions are specified.

  • The manuscript is formatted according to the journal’s stylistic and bibliographic requirements.

References and Citations

  • References must be numbered in the order they appear in the text.

  • Use superscript numbers for in-text citations.

  • Follow the ICMJE style for reference formatting.

  • Avoid citing abstracts, unpublished data, or personal communications unless essential; written permission is required for personal communications.

Figures and Tables

  • All figures and tables must be cited in the text and included at relevant points, not at the end.

  • Provide clear captions for figures and titles for tables.

  • Images should be in high-resolution formats (jpg, png, tiff, or gif).

Ethical Considerations

  • Manuscripts must comply with ethical standards for research and publication.

  • Authors must declare any conflicts of interest.

  • All sources of funding must be disclosed.

  • Complete all required fields and upload the manuscript and supplementary files.

  • Confirm compliance with all checklist items before final submission.
